I don’t know which kind of facial to get. What should I do?
We totally get it--jumping into the world of skincare is intimidating! For newbies, we recommend The Kin. It’s our signature 60 minute facial with a 30 minute consultation on the front end to deep dive into your concerns, answer all your questions and look through your current products. If you’ve had a facial before but you’d still like to dip a toe in, you can’t go wrong with The Ol’ Faithful; it’s a customizable 60 minute treatment that covers all the basics, plus you can add on some microderm or a sheet masque if you’re feeling fancy! I read that you can break out after a facial. Is that true?
Okay, hear us out: the answer is yes and no. The truth is, everyone’s skin is a little different. Some skin types, particularly acneic, can be prone to post-facial detoxing after extractions, which is totally normal when trying to actively expel infection. And of course, there’s always the chance that you may have a sensitivity to an ingredient. BUT WAIT! The good news is, here at Kindred we use only the highest quality, non-toxic products in order to minimize the possibility of negative reactions or breakouts, and we’ll never do extractions without your explicit consent first. We want every facial to be a pleasant, helpful experience, so we’re happy to tailor your treatment to you and your needs. After all, we’re in this thing together.
Should I wear make-up to my facial?
It’s definitely preferred that you arrive for your appointment make-up free so we have as much time as possible to get through all the facial steps. However, we understand that life happens and sometimes you’ll have to show up with make-up on. No problem--we’ve got the technology.
Can I wear make-up after my facial?
Generally, we prefer that you give your skin the rest of the day before you put make-up on to avoid reactions or post-facial breakouts. Your skin is more exposed and freshly exfoliated, so it’s best to give it time to breathe. (Of course, there are always exceptions. I.E.: Oxygen treatments, but not wearing make-up after a facial is almost always the rule.)
Can I work out after my facial?
Your facial day is like a get-out-of-gym-free card! Heavy sweating after a treatment can lead to inflammation and heat rash, while gyms are crawling with staph bacteria--not something you want to take a chance on with newly exfoliated skin. Grab yourself a green smoothie and take that kickboxing class tomorrow.
I’ve had bad experiences with extractions before. Will they hurt?
We cannot tell a lie: extractions are uncomfortable. But they can be done safely, gently and effectively with the right tools--which we have! Extractions work to expel infection and clean the pores, but ultimately it’s your call if you’d like to receive them. We’ll never perform extractions without your consent and we’re happy to substitute ultrasonic cleansing if you’d prefer.
I have a big event coming up (Wedding, Reunion, Anniversary, etc.) when should I start getting facials?
The timeline for big event facial schedules really depends on your skin. Generally it’s best to come in sooner rather than later so we can assess your current skin condition and routine, then create a timeline for treatments leading up to your wedding, reunion, etc. For some people this may mean only two facials, for others it may mean more. Feel free to shoot us an email if you have further questions: Hello@KindredStudioATL.com
How do you evaluate if skin is sensitive?
Sensitive can mean a lot of things--reactive to product, reddens easily, breaks out easily, etc. We try to get to the root of each individual’s sensitivity and tailor the treatment accordingly. For example, if you are prone to Rosacea, we’ll likely use little to no heat during your facial to avoid exacerbating the redness. Every case is different, which is why we recommend starting with The Kin for your first facial. Taking the time to really dig into your skin profile makes for a more personalized experience. If you still have questions, feel free to reach out via email: Hello@KindredStudioATL.com.
How long does my hair have to be to get waxed?
¾ of an inch, or long enough to lay flat on the skin.
Should I arrive early for my first appointment?
Yes, please! Plan on arriving ten minutes before your scheduled appointment in order to fill out your client intake form. (Unless you’ve booked The Kin, in which case we have plenty of time!)
Are children allowed to join me during my visit?
We love kiddos, but due to the quiet nature of a spa visit we kindly request no children unless they’re receiving a service.
What is your return policy for products?
We will happily return products for a full refund within 7 days of purchase. After 7 days we accept returns for 50% of the purchase price.
